The New York Chapter (NYC) of the American Fisheries Society consists of 167 active members as well as students from Morrisville State College, SUNY Cobleskill, and Cornell student subchapters. Its broad membership allows interaction among professionals across states and provinces, or areas united by common interest.
The chapter holds its annual meeting in February, with workshops, business meetings, evening socials, themed plenaries, invited speakers, contributed papers, and poster sessions.
The mission of the NYC of the American Fisheries Society is to improve the conservation and sustainability of fishery resources and aquatic ecosystems by advancing fisheries and aquatic science and by promoting the development of fisheries professionals.
