156th Annual Meeting of the American Fisheries Society
Date: August 30- September 3, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Annual Theme: The Heart of Sustainability: Habitat as the Foundation of Productive Fisheries
Description:
In 2026, the American Fisheries Society returns to the city of Columbus, Ohio, for the first time since 1933. President Gary Whelan, the North Central Division, and the Ohio Chapter invite you to join us August 30 – September 3, 2026 on the banks of the Scioto River.
The Program Committee for this meeting invites proposals for special symposia. A symposium is a set of presentations organized around a particular theme. All abstracts are submitted via the Call for Abstracts. Symposium organizers will build their session agenda from these submitted abstracts, some of which may be invited. The call for contributed abstracts will open after session proposals have been accepted and published in early March 2026.
Session proposals must be submitted by midnight EST on January 30, 2026. The proposal submission portal will be made available on the 156th AFS Event Webpage.

The Northeast Division of AFS (NED-AFS) will be holding their annual business meeting in conjunction with the 156th Annual Meeting. Stay tuned for additional details.
