The Atlantic International Chapter of the American Fisheries Society is comprised of five eastern Canadian provinces and three New England American states. They are:
- Quebec (east of Three Rivers)
- New Brunswick

- New Hampshire
- Vermont
The University Maine Student Subchapter and the Quebec Student Subunit are also included in the Atlantic International Chapter. The AIC has its annual meeting in September.

Mid-Atlantic Chapter (MAC)
The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the American Fisheries Society received its charter from the parent Society in August 1983. Membership consists of fisheries professionals and college students from Delaware and New Jersey. A large percentage of the chapter’s membership consists of student’s representing institutions such as:
- University of Delaware
- Delaware State University
- Rutgers University
- Stockton State College
The Mid-Atlantic Chapter has its Annual Meeting in the Fall which consists of a business meeting, evening social, keynote speaker, contributed papers, and a poster session.
The Chapter meetings provide students the opportunity to present their research, and a $100 prize is presented for the best student paper.

New York Chapter (NYC)
The New York Chapter of the American Fisheries Society consists of 167 members as well as students from Morrisville State College, SUNY Cobleskill, and Cornell student subchapters.
The chapter holds its annual meeting in February, with workshops, business meetings, evening socials, themed plenaries, invited speakers, contributed papers, and poster sessions.

Pennsylvania Chapter
The Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Fisheries society has 87 members and a student subchapter at the California University of Pennsylvania. They have three annual meetings, including technical meetings in the Fall and Spring, as well as a summer social!

Southern New England Chapter (SNEC)
The Southern New England Chapter of the American Fisheries Society includes the states of Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. The Chapter was formed in 1968 to provide opportunities to exchange information and support the many other principal objectives of the parent society.
The chapter’s annual business meeting is held in June. Besides electing new officers, AFS attendees are briefed on matters pertaining to chapter, Northeast division, and parent society business. This meeting gives AFS members an opportunity to express their views on the parent society or Northeast division activities or plans and, accordingly, to help establish chapter positions. In this way, AFS members who might not be able to attend parent society and/or division annual meetings, are able to influence their organization’s attempts to achieve its goals.

SUNY-ESF Chapter
One of the only student chapters in the nation, the SUNY-ESF Student Chapter of the American Fisheries Society is dedicated to the preservation and conservation of aquatic resources, and to facilitating the information exchange between students, professionals, and the public regarding our knowledge of aquatic resources. It is a great way to get involved with a professionally recognized organization, make connections, improve your educational experience, and have fun!
The chapter has 25-40 active members which meet monthly to observe keynote speakers, student presentations, as well as conducting networking and volunteer opportunities.
